Great Health: How do you schedule it in?
We all know that staying healthy is important because it helps prevent diseases, improves mental health, and boosts energy levels. Great health enables us to be more physically active, prolong our life, and improves the quality of life.
Who doesn’t want that?
The key to staying healthy is to adjust your schedule to fit it in. This takes organizational skills. Here are some ideas to stay “organized” when it comes to your health:
Make a list of your goals and priorities related to your health
Create a daily or weekly schedule to help you stick to your goals
Find a method of tracking your progress that works for you, such as keeping a journal or using fitness app
Ask for help and support from family and friends
Stay flexible and adjust your plans as needed
Let’s break these ideas down a little further.
Make a list of your goals and priorities related to your health…
Be specific.
Specific health goals might include eating more vegetables, exercising for thirty minutes every day, or quitting smoking. You can even get more specific and state the “how” you’ll do it. Things like “I will do 10 pushups a day for the next 3 weeks,” or “I will have a least one type of vegetable with my dinner.”
Here are some tips for creating a daily or weekly schedule to help you stick to your goals…
(It might be helpful to get out a pen and paper. I’ll wait ;)).
Find a time in the day that works best for you to focus on your goals. This may be first thing in
the morning, during your lunch break, or in the evening before bed.
Break down your goals into small, manageable steps that you can complete each day or week.
Plan out your schedule in advance, and set aside specific times for working on your goals.
Creating reminders for yourself, such as setting an alarm or leaving yourself a note, to help you stay on track.
Adjusting your schedule as needed based on how well you are sticking to your goals.
The benefits for enlisting support to help you stick with your health goals…
It might make it more fun and easier to have an accountability partner, someone will be there to keep you accountable, motivate and encourage you, and you might reach your goals quicker.
Staying flexible with your “new” health plan…
There are a few reasons why it is important to stay flexible with your health plans/goals. First, your body may not respond the way you expect it to. You may have to adjust your plans accordingly. Secondly, life happens. You may get sick, have a busy week, or something else may come up that prevents you from following your plan to the letter. Finally, you may simply get bored with your current plan. Staying flexible allows you to make changes as needed, which can help you stick to your overall goals.
The important thing to remember is to keep going. Keep moving in the direction of your goals.
You might run into challenges, but don’t throw in the towel.
Your health is important. Your health matters.
You got this!
